Job Description

Ryan Companies is looking for a Professional Engineer to serve as a team member responsible for design and production and management of projects overseen by the Team Leader. This position will be part of an integral team, working with developers, architects, project managers, property managers and assisting in turning client dreams into realities. We are looking for someone who can add to our collaborative culture and has a strong technical competency in commercial site design. 

Project responsibilities include engineering design for site, grading, stormwater, utilities, paving, and details for such; prepare plans, specifications, or analysis as it relates to physical constraints and agency requirements; delegate and oversee detailed design and drafting by other team members. 

When serving as a project manager, this individual will prepare task lists for preconstruction site development activities, including preconstruction schedules, direct serving as primary contact for site civil engineering, landscape architecture, traffic engineering, land surveys, wetlands, and other site development activities.  Team Leader will provide overview of these activities.  The Professional Engineer may present to reviewing agencies or other boards and commissions. 

Administrative responsibilities include providing weekly project task lists for projects where the individual serves as the project manager, and other standard administrative tasks.

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and strong experience as a licensed professional engineer, and requires a general understanding of land development and agency approval processes. The ability to obtain registration as a Minnesota Professional Engineer within 6 months is required.  The individual must be well versed with word processing, spreadsheets, possess a solid understanding of Civil 3D, and be competent with required engineering design software.

This individual must be deliberative, analytical, and focused to excel in this position.  The individual should also possess strong communication skills, be organized, highly motivated, and demonstrate self-confidence and initiative.  This individual must also be highly ethical and respectful of the power and liability that comes with signing civil documents.
